Student: Jacqueline Pompey Abrunhosa
Summary:
The Jandiá Canal Rhamdia quelen is a fish with a wide distribution in Brazil usually found in the Amazon. Has significant importance in extractive fishing and aquaculture. In contrast, few studies were directed the action of diseases, in particular those caused by parasites. Among these we find the disease-causing microorganisms in freshwater and marine fish, as well as microcrustaceans, nematodes, between those of the phyla Myxozoa, Microspora and Apicomplexa. The present study aims to investigate these last three taxa in jandiás that will be collected in the municipality of Salvaterra and Cachoeira do Arari on Marajó island. The parasites found in the bodies of fish will be analyzed through the techniques of light microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and molecular biology.
